Naval Tejas : India became 6th country to land a fighter Aircraft on Aircraft carrier by an "arrested landing"

11 January 2020 brought a huge development in the history of Indian Aviation and Indian navy when a Naval prototype NP 2 (3002 ) of India's home grown fighter HAL Tejas landed on the deck of Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. Naval Tejas not only becomes the first Indian-made fighter jet to land on the deck of an aircraft carrier but also made India 6th Country to do an arrested landing of Fighter aircraft on an aircraft carrier and 10th Country in the world to land a Fighter Aircraft on an Aircraft Carrier after USA , Canada,Germany ,Italy, Russia , Japan ,UK, China and France.

“After completing extensive trials on the Shore Based Test Facility (SBTF), Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) developed LCA Navy did an arrested landing on INS Vikramaditya successfully today January 11, 2020 at 10:02 hours,” the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said on Twitter .

The Naval Tejas used its tail hook to successfully snag the arrester wire, which acts as brakes to slow down and bring the fighter jet to a halt, on the deck of the aircraft carrier. An "arrested landing" on the deck of an aircraft carrier is a feat achieved by only a handful of fighter jets developed in the US, Russia, UK, France and, more recently, China . While Germany , Italy and Japan did land an fighter Aircraft on a carrier but it was not an arrested landing and it was also way back in 2nd World War . Canada flown de Havilland Canada L-20 Beaver from a Usa Aircraft carrier in 1958 in Lebanon war .

This beautiful bird Which was rejected by Indian navy  for being too overweight for carrier operations is now making them proud .Now HAL ( Hindustan Aeronautics Limited ) expecting the aircraft will be in Initial operational stage in 2020-21 .They believe this achievement will now pave the way to develop and manufacture the twin engine deck-based fighter for the Indian Navy and also expecting order from both indian Navy and foreign Navy .
